  • 27 year old girl
  • 3/12 hx of progresive symptoms of heart failure

Findings




Diagnosis

Left ventricular non-compaction
  • Cardiomyopathy: Deep trabeculations in the ventricular wall that define recesses that communicate with the main chamber
  • Systolic and diastolic failure, arrythmiaas, embolic events
  • The incidence is not well known. About 0.17 per 100,000? Rare. First described in a case series 1990 ago
  • Arrest of normal compaction of the loose interwoven myocardial fibers in the embryo
  • Non-compacted :compaxcted myocardial thickness >2:1

Treatment

  • Aspirin
  • Manage heart failure or arrhythmias
  • Cardiac transplantation
